Recently, News Manager Keith Cross had the opportunity to travel to San Francisco for a hands-on demonstration of Funcom's upcoming MMORPG, Age of Conan. The experience was under embargo until today, so today he files his report.

Funcom's latest MMORPG, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures will be shipping to stores in a matter of days, and it's an enormous project with a long list of features.

BioWare talks MMOs at MTV Multiplayer, where they reveal that they've been checking out the competition, Age of Conan. With their own MMO on the way, AoC has given them encouragement in knowing that MMOs other than WoW can still do well.

While Age of Conan has a pretty interesting handle on the newbie zone portion of the game, Tharaldsen and his team know that people expect one thing from a title carrying the Conan name: action. Despite Age of Conan being an MMO, it has a pretty damn action-y combat system. Tharaldsen specifically cites games like Tekken and Street Fighter II (I'll get to this in a bit) when talking about the combat.
